Our current build continues to progress well. We passed rough inspection on the first go, after all rough mechanicals and foam insulation were completed. The faux slate roof with standing seam metal accents is completed and looks amazing. Drywall is currently underway and stone is being applied on the exterior. Stay tuned as the interior begins to take shape....

Breaking News: Timeless Cottage is under contract as of 13 June, 2024. We would like to thank all of those who showed interest and especially those who travelled to lovely Lake Murray to view this home.

Our latest home on Lake Murray is continuing along. Mechanicals are nearly complete, and cornince and board and batten siding is also done for now. Painters are hard at work on the exterior, which will than allow us to install stone siding and then the roof.

The new custom home on Lake Murray, SC is coming along quickly. Framing is progressing rapidly as can be seen in the photos. Exterior decisions have been made and are shown in the renderings.

Well, 2023 is almost over. It has been a busy year, and an especially busy fall/winter thus far. We have been pushing hard on our latest build, in order to meet our goal of starting framing right after the new year. To accomplish that, we had to pour the slab before the holidays. 

It really took a team effort between many of the finest subcontractors that the Midlands has to offer... but we did it. In fact, yesterday was 'pour day'. We placed 84 yards of concrete, starting at 6 AM, and working the finish until approximately 11PM (due to the very cool weather). What a dedicated crew! We are extremely pleased with the quality of the job and the slow drying conditions... the Client will have a very good base on which we can build their dream home.

We are going to take the next week and spend some well earned time with family and friends. Happy Holidays to you all, and we'll see you in the New Year!

Progress Report of 8 December 2023

Things have been moving very quickly, thanks to our amazing network of subcontractors. Here is a partial list if you like metrics:

- 728 lineal feet of concrete footings were poured with rebar uprights every 4'

- Just under 4,000 blocks were laid for stem walls

- Blocks were filled with 30 cubic yards of concrete, with rebar inserted to tie into slab, and 1/2" galvanized anchor bolts every 4'

- 58 truckloads of sand clay were placed and compacted inside the homes stem walls 

- 41 truckloads of fill were placed and rough graded around the exterior

- Temporary power was pulled underground and passed inspection today (12/8/23)

- 3rd party soil compaction testing to occur today (12/8/23)

- Underslab plumbing began today (12/8/23)

One of the things we pride ourselves on is keeping a neat, safe and professional job-site. Part of that involves staying on trash removal, but also, it requires us to avoid burying scrap lumber or the tree roots and pieces that are unearthed during excavation. These scraps are food sources for the termites that thrive here in South Carolina. So, one of the activities we engage in while waiting on deliveries, subs, or even clients, is to walk around and pick-up trash, glass, wood and any hazards we encounter. It is indeed a little thing, but reflects a core value which is to treat your property as if it were our own.

The latest new design-build lake home is coming out of the ground... Footings are in, and block work is nearing completion. Power and data conduits were brought from the outbuilding to the road via directional boring, in order to avoid trenching through the mature trees and bushes that provide privacy and shade to this magnificent home site.

Introducing an exciting new collaboration between Timeless Home Builders and Rivers Design House LLC. Bringing enhanced design and rendering capabilities.

Historically, as part of our design-build process, Timeless Craftsmen (AKA Timeless Home Builders) did all of our 3-Dimensional (3D) modeling in-house. We found that 3D design was far superior to 2D CAD systems as it minimized the possibility of ‘gotchas’ during the construction phase (such as a doorway that hits an angled ceiling when opening it)… but more importantly, it allowed us to help our Clients visual their spaces much better. In our opinion, 3D really helped people better understand what was being designed, and helped ensure that the ‘reality not matching the vision’: 

  • How big a space would be and how does that space ‘feel’
  • What kind of sightlines and views exist throughout the home
  • Does the scale work (ceiling heights, windows sizes, fireplaces, trim, etc.)?
  • Does a certain area need more texture (board and batten, shiplap, tile, etc.)?
  • Will the intended furniture fit the space?
  • Will the space feel cluttered, spartan, or just-right?
  • Which colors will look best together?

More recently, we began to experience demand for the types of highly detailed interior and/or exterior renderings that help facilitate detailed design and decorating choices far ahead of the construction process. This capability also helped Clients visualize the end product better which sped decision making and further de-risked the final result. While we love 3D models, we always found it tedious and time consuming to get from a rough design to construction drawings. We knew that the detailed drawings and renderings were necessary, but understood that these tasks were not the highest and best use of our time. What we needed was a partner that could bridge that capability for us. So today, we at Timeless Craftsmen, are proud to announce a new collaborative relationship with Rivers Design House LLC. This relationship not only helps us with models, drawings and renderings, but provides us a partner that understands the industry and brings another set of creative design eyes to the table. Together, this team has just released our first set of drawings for a custom-build Client on Lake Murray in Chapin, SC. Further, we continue to evolve the exterior aesthetics of this residence via highly-detailed color renderings of candidate textures, materials and colors. By doing so, we reduce risk while assisting the Client in making informed choices earlier and with more confidence. We look forward to working with you in the future, and showing you what this new partnership has to offer.

For many years, the family we are building for has had a weekender home on this amazing lot. They made many great memories here, and so it was bittersweet when we demolished this leagacy home to make way for a their new permanent residence.

We have completed demolition on our latest Lake Murray custom home project. A big thank you to our friends at Mett's Construction for coming through (as they always do)! Stay tuned for the start of footings...

After an intensive design and planning phase, our newest project began in earnest on 6 November, with the removal of an existing family weekender on beautiful Lake Murray. This project, for an undisclosed client, will involve the construction of an approximately 7,000 sq ft home on one of the most desirable point lots on the lake. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days and weeks.
